The headquarters will coordinate the accounting, tax, legal, logistics and procurement operations of LG New Energy's subsidiaries in China, manage cross-border capital pools, carry out research and development of new energy batteries and materials, and be responsible for upstream and downstream industry chain investments.
"In the future, LG New Energy will rely on Nanjing's high-quality resources and policy environment to further increase its investment in the Chinese market, continuously improve its core competitiveness, and contribute more to the development of intelligent manufacturing and new energy industry in Nanjing and even China." Cui Zhixiong, President of LG New Energy China, said, "The establishment of the China headquarters project signifies that LG New Energy is confident and energized about its future development in China!"
Since 1995, LG Group has experienced "snowball" development in Nanjing Jingkai District, with a total investment of more than 8 billion dollars, 10 enterprises, and a total employment of nearly 30,000 people. Under the synergistic development of more than 40 supporting enterprises, the output value of LG industry chain enterprises in Nanjing Jingkai District in 2023 will total more than 130 billion yuan. Over the past 30 years, the two sides have been working hand in hand in-depth cooperation, LG Group, relying on China's industrial chain supply chain system to share the opportunities for development, and promote the co-prosperity of foreign and domestic investment, which not only contributes to the growth and expansion of Nanjing's first national economic and technological development zone, but also accomplishes a good story about the investment of Korean-funded enterprises rooted in Nanjing.
Currently, the company's battery production line intelligence project is being pushed forward in Nanjing Jingkai District. "LG New Energy's 'intelligent manufacturing' is a stable production and operation system built on automation, informatization and intelligence driven by big data and artificial intelligence. We will informatize and digitize the entire lifecycle management process from product design, production, logistics to sales to improve production efficiency, resource utilization, and ensure product quality." LG New Energy President Kim Dong Myung said in a video message on the 20th of the theme conference.
During the conference, LG New Energy's booth with its full range of products attracted a lot of attention. Power batteries, energy storage batteries, small batteries and other products produced in Nanjing made an appearance, presenting a visual feast with a strong sense of technology to the audience.
At the power battery booth, LG New Energy demonstrated the overall new energy vehicle solutions including cells, modules, BMS and battery packs, which have been widely used in passenger cars and commercial vehicles; at the energy storage battery booth, LG New Energy demonstrated the many application scenarios of the company's products in the fields of power grids, commercial residences, and UPS equipment, etc.; at the small battery booth, LG New Energy demonstrated 1865 and 2170 cylindrical battery solutions. LG New Energy's unique soft pack structure, through the patented technology of stacking and folding, can realize the ultra-thin, high-capacity and multi-form design of the battery, and the products have been widely used in light electric vehicles, power tools, robots and other equipment.
This year is the 20th anniversary of the cooperation between Nanjing Economic Development Zone and LG New Energy. From the groundbreaking of the battery factory in 2004, to the establishment of the first power battery company in 2014, to the landing of a series of major investment projects in recent years, LG New Energy has become the most representative of the foreign-funded enterprises in Nanjing Economic Development Zone and the backbone of the new energy industry. The Administrative Committee of Nanjing Economic Development Zone will take the landing of the China headquarters project as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with LG New Energy in the fields of transformation and upgrading, technological innovation, industry chain integration and market expansion, and work together to build a globally competitive new energy industry highland.
