Nanjing Institute of Water Resources was founded in 1935, formerly known as the Central Hydraulic Experiment Institute, is China's first established comprehensive water science research institutions; in 2001 was identified as a national social public welfare category of non-profit scientific research institutions; in 2009, the name was changed to "Nanjing Institute of Water Resources". According to the official website of Nanjing Institute of Water Resources Science in January 2017, Nanjing Institute of Water Resources Science has more than 1,300 scientific research personnel, with more than 670 senior titles. It has research institutes such as the Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources, the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulics, the Research Center for the Utilization of Marine Resources, and research and development institutions such as Nanjing Ruidi Construction Technology Co. Ltd. and other R&D organizations.
