The Yangtze River Pilotage Center is the only pilotage organization set up by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications on the mainline of the Yangtze River, which manages 11 pilotage stations and 4 pilotage transfer bases along the whole length of the Yangtze River, undertakes the unified deployment of pilotage power along the whole length of the Yangtze River and the duties of dynamic monitoring of pilotage safety, implements pilotage for foreign vessels entering and leaving the waters of the Yangtze River mainline in compliance with laws and regulations, and provides pilotage service for Chinese vessels that should apply for pilotage.
After the Yangtze River Pilotage Center is stationed, it will effectively guarantee the normalization of 100,000-ton bulk carriers entering and leaving Nanjing Port, which is of great significance for improving the comprehensive service function of Nanjing Regional Shipping and Logistics Center, enhancing the status of Nanjing as the main hub port for river and sea transshipment, and driving the high-end elements of shipping to further gather in the Xiaguan Shipping Service Cluster, promoting the development of the export-oriented economy and the high quality of the Yangtze River shipping development.
